Laplace Engineering Group has recently completed a £145k project to upgrade the furnace controls at Vallourec Mannesmann Oil and Gas UK Ltd.
The project was carried out in four stages to coincide with the customers planned maintenance shut downs therefore the planning had to include for periods of production where a hybrid of old and new controls would be in use. The new system provides a "Soft Desk" for operator controls, increased reliability, product tracking and historical trending of furnace performance. The new system also replaces a control system that evolved over 30 years with a uniform control layer easing maintenance.
